In recent years, there’s been an explosion in the number of simulator games in the market. This is in part thanks to an improvement in the technology driving these simulators in terms of CPU and GPU performance. That isn’t to say though that even twenty years ago that there weren’t any simulators. They’ve been around for a long time. It’s just that they’re now more popular than ever.

The biggest area when it comes to simulators is the racing genre, with there being various degrees of intensity and realism. However, there are other genres out there, too. It turns out that there are actually a lot of people out there interested in driving trucks! In terms of truck simulators, the two fan favourites that you can get just now are Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator. Obviously the biggest difference between the two of these is the locations in each game, as well as the trucks that are available.

However, it would be remiss to discuss simulators and not mention the mighty Kerbal Space Program. This is a space exploration simulator which is not only highly entertaining, but completely bonkers at the same time! It has gained a cult following online with the large number of YouTubers that have dedicated their channels to the game.

When it comes to simulators, mainly in the driving sector, there has been an increase in the use of steering wheels. Whilst it is perfectly possible and acceptable to play them with a controller, a lot do prefer to go for the steering wheel, pedals and gear shifter setup. Either way, you’ll still need to use a keyboard and mouse anyway for the additional input options. Regardless of the option though, you’ll be having a great time! To help you along your way, we’ve given our opinion on what the best steering wheel is.  Below are our reviews in the simulator genre:
